OLD LIFEBOAT STATION and Watchtower heritage regeneration project construction progresses.

Pictured: project team inspection, fresh lime mortar pointing protected by wet hessian to control the drying process, Helifix stainless steel reinforcing rods for a lasting job – efficient looking too.
We hope to strike the scaffolding from the Watchtower down to ground floor this week.

Main funder Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Good Growth Fund.
The previously derelict Watchtower is being repurposed for use as the ELTT offices, the refurbished Old Lifeboat Station was advertised for lease and the tenders received are being considered by the board of Trustees.
A new free on-line history and archive of the historic Looe Lifeboats will focus on the rescues, the men who crewed them and their families. It will signpost people to the valuable lifeboat artefacts we hold in the trust’s Old Guildhall Museum.
Also, a new Great Scenic Railways circular heritage and conservation walk will terminate at the OLS and highlight the heritage significance of this Grade II listed building.
